Frequently occurring error messages

BIM101; 1 face could not be connected to a unique wall

This means a wall, slab, or ceiling cannot be linked to a room. When the wall is not recognized by the room, Vabi Elements still attempts to connect the rooms. In most cases this will not cause any problems. This message is equivalent to message BIM102. Two possible causes are acknowledged:

§ The walls, slabs, and roofs are not related to the room, because the wall is separate from the room. This can be solved in the BIM model, see also Slab and wall construction. It is also possible some objects are separate from all rooms. The messages for these objects may be ignored.

§ In some cases this message cannot be prevented by the modeller due to the low data quality of the IFC model. Therefore, the data is not written to the IFC perfectly.

BIM102; several faces could not be connected to a unique wall

Same as message BIM101, but for multiple faces in a room.

BIM103 Space is not Valid to Euler check

Vabi Elements uses a variety of functions to verify whether a room is water- and airtight, and whether the room has the right structure. Unfortunately, incorrect rooms do occur in the IFC-file, which may be caused by the quality of the IFC export. The modeller cannot help this other than by trying to simplify the room, e.g. by splitting up the room. Vabi Elements attempts to repair all incorrect rooms, however, unfortunately this is not successful in all cases.

BIM107; Could not extend space to new size

The room has been imported, however, Vabi Elements did not succeed to determine the centre point dimensions of the room. As a result, no interior walls originated and the room are not connected to each other. You may try to generate the interior walls by moving the interior walls to the adjacent room.

BIM201; inconsistent geometry of Room ####

This means a room obtained an incorrect geometry after translation to our calculation model. In most cases, this error is a direct consequence of message BIM203. The following causes are acknowledged:

§ The room (space, room of area in Revit) is too complex, because it contains lips, protrusions, or a different deviating shape. Vabi Elements then has difficulties in determining the centre point dimensions. Removing these deviating shapes will solve the problem, for example by switching off room bounding for the Columns and Compound ceilings.

§ The functions in Vabi Elements are not able to handle the complexity of the room. This item remains under development.

BIM 202 Overlapping of rooms

This error occurs if the connection of two rooms failed, such that an interior wall or -slab originates. It is due to the calculated interior walls being unequal to each other, because the interior points are too complex. For more information, see message BIM201.

BIM203; Error when calculating a wall between Rooms #### and ####

Same as message BIM202
