IFC classes

The IFC viewer can be used to check the IFC for the following items:

§ Spaces

Does the IFC contain Spaces in the first place?

Does every room contain a space?

Is the shape of each space correct?

How many spaces are there? Is this number consistent with the room list?

Do overlapping spaces occur?

Does the IFC contain spaces which are larger than the constructions which should enclose the room?

§ Walls

Does the IFC contain Walls in the first place?

Are some walls, which you expected to be there, lacking?

Is the shape of each wall correct?

Have the walls been linked to a space?

§ Slabs

Same as Walls

§ Roofs

Same as Walls

§ Curtain Walls

Same as Walls

§ Windows

How many windows does the IFC file contain?

Is the shape of each wall correct?

Have the windows been linked to an opening? Have these openings been linked to wall, slab or roof?

§ Doors

§ Other

Do some objects, which you expected to be in one of the classes above, occur in other classes? Consider for example a custom drawn roof which is imported into Revit.
