The IFC viewer can be used to check the IFC for the following items:
§ Spaces
o Does the IFC contain Spaces in the first place?
o Does every room contain a space?
o Is the shape of each space correct?
o How many spaces are there? Is this number consistent with the room list?
o Do overlapping spaces occur?
o Does the IFC contain spaces which are larger than the constructions which should enclose the room?
§ Walls
o Does the IFC contain Walls in the first place?
o Are some walls, which you expected to be there, lacking?
o Is the shape of each wall correct?
o Have the walls been linked to a space?
§ Slabs
o Same as Walls
§ Roofs
o Same as Walls
§ Curtain Walls
o Same as Walls
§ Windows
o How many windows does the IFC file contain?
o Is the shape of each wall correct?
o Have the windows been linked to an opening? Have these openings been linked to wall, slab or roof?
§ Doors
o Same as Windows
§ Other
o Do some objects, which you expected to be in one of the classes above, occur in other classes? Consider for example a custom drawn roof which is imported into Revit.
